Australian diplomatic representation in Noumea began in August 1940. Australia has a multifaceted relationship with New Caledonia which has grown and strengthened over the years.

New Colombo Plan

83 Australian university students will come to New Caledonia in the 2019 Mobility Grants intake of the New Colombo Plan. This is the second year that New Caledonia will be a destination for the New Colombo Plan.

10th Conference of the Pacific Community and 70th Anniversary celebrations

The Minister for International Development and the Pacific, Senator the Hon Concetta Fierravanti-Wells attended the 10th Conference of the Pacific Community and 70th Anniversary celebrations in Noumea.

The theme of the 10th Conference of the Pacific Community was ‘Innovative Partnerships for Sustainable Development’. The Senator’s speech is available here.

New Colombo Plan

82 Australian university students will soon be coming to New Caledonia in the 2018 Mobility Grants intake of the New Colombo Plan. This is the first time that New Caledonia will be a destination for the New Colombo Plan.
