POLICY OFFICER (POLITICAL) (Permanent, Full time)
The Australian Consulate-General is seeking a bilingual candidate with demonstrated skills and experience relevant to foreign, development or trade policy, to monitor, analyse and report on political, social, and economic developments in New Caledonia and Wallis and Futuna. The successful candidate will have the ability to work with flexibility within a small team and to perform research and analysis, prepare briefings, and undertake domestic political, economic, and foreign/regional policy reporting, develop and maintain strong working relationships with a key network of contacts, represent the Consulate-General at external events, be responsible for organising official visits, for which some travel may be required. The position requires strong communication skills and a full driver’s licence.

Conditions of Appointment
- Category of Employment: Locally Engaged Staff (LES) – employed in accordance with Australian Consulate General terms and conditions.
- Contract Type and Duration: Permanent, Full time position
- Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week (generally 08:30AM to 17:00PM although flexible arrangements are available)
- Start Date: January 2025
- Place of work: Noumea
- Remuneration: The position is offered at the Locally Engaged Staff 4 (LE4) level. The monthly base salary is XPF 452,383. A higher salary may be offered within the LE4 salary band taking into consideration the relevant experience and qualifications of the successful candidate. Performance rewards (annual pay point movement or bonus) are available under the Consulate-General’s Performance Management Framework.
